Where the Sky Meets the Earth
A Catskill Mountain Retreat featuring
Marriage of Heaven & Earth Chi Kung
and
Taoist Meditation

Sunday June 22, thru Friday June 27, 2003

Where the Sky Meets the Earth is the Taoist Arts Center's 2003 summer retreat, taking place in New York State's beautiful Catskill Mountain Forest Preserve. Director Susan Rabinowitz will teach The Marriage of Heaven and Earth Chi Kung, a one-movement exercise that incorporates centuries of Taoist bodywork.  Once learned it can be practiced in minutes. The Marriage of Heaven and Earth promotes the efficient movement of chi through the body and is widely used in China to relieve back, neck and joint problems.

Not just another vacation, everyone will enjoy these beautiful woodland retreats. For our 2003 retreat, instruction, lodging, and meals are provided at the secluded Full Moon Alternative Resort, near Woodstock New York.

This retreat covers The Marriage of Heaven and Earth Chi Kung, a smoothly flowing whole body exercise incorporating all of the Taoist bodywork principles. This deceptively simple one-movement exercise will teach you to balance the energies of your internal organs for health and well being.

The Marriage of Heaven and Earth will help you to:

  • Breathe more fully
  • Increase your range of movement
  • Stretch your muscles and tendons
  • Absorb and emit energy from your hands
  • Move and control chi by opening and closing your joints
  • Unite the energies of heaven and earth inside your body

Once learned, The Marriage of Heaven and Earth can be practiced in a few minutes and will make an excellent addition to your daily practice. Great for martial artists, healers, and everyone who wishes to become relaxed, flexible, and balanced.

Marriage of Heaven and Earth will be complemented by Taoist Meditation. This unique meditation uses the energies of the body, emotions and mind to resolve difficulties and attain a clear, relaxed, and balanced spirituality.

Chinese Tui-Na massage will also be included.

Here are a few comments from campers at our June 2003 retreat:

  • The entire experience was wonderful in every way - setting, instruction, topic, food, weather and best of all wonderful fellow practitioners. The  Marriage of Heaven and Earth has endless potential, yet is forgiving to beginners. All of the Chi Kung principles are reflected in this practice, I  liked that it combines physical movement with energy movement. It also  introduces an entirely new way of experiencing my body, Maureen C.

  • Camp really helped me to deepen my practice. The relaxing atmosphere and nurturing quality of Susie's teaching are conducive for a wonderful learning environment Max Q

  • Susan's adaptable and concise teaching style wiggled into cracks in my tension and helped it open naturally from the inside. Tyler B.

  • The Marriage of Heaven and Earth makes me feel connected - to myself and to everything around me. Nancy B.

  • I love the individual attention and focus on being good to yourself. The food was great and camping by the river was wonderful. Oliver W,
